Design ResourcesSearch engine optimization (SEO) Tips1. Make sure that every page in your site has a unique, relevant title in the page's html title tags. You should use descriptive keywords not the name of your company. This text will appear in search engine results and will help tell both the search engine and users what the page is about. It's also a good usability practice. 2. Use the description meta tag. Now that you've got a user intrigued with your page title, they want a little bit more information before they click through, that's where the description meta tag comes in. By giving each page in your website a unique, useful description of the page content, you make it easier for a user to decide whether or not to click through. The description will usually be shown right below the page title in search results. 3. H1 Tags and Keyword Density The Google ranking algorithm dictates that if you're using an H1 tag, then the text in between this tag must be more important than the content on the rest of the page. You can use CSS to override the default look of the h1 tage and have any size or color you want Using keywords throughout your page content can also improve your sites keyword density. Keyword density means the ratio of optimized keywords to the rest of the content on your page. It is usually expressed as a percentage, and should be between 3% and 8% for each page on your site. If your keyword density is 10% or higher Google might consider it key word stuffing and could drop your site from their index. 4. Update your content regularly. Search engines love fresh content. While you don't necessarily have to constantly create new pages or blog posts (though it's great if you can) updating the pages you have with fresh information or adding new pieces can help a great deal.
